The Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) reduces harmful emissions by capturing soot particles from exhaust gases. Short journeys and low-speed driving can prevent proper regeneration, causing blockages.
A blocked DPF can trigger warning lights, reduce performance and increase fuel consumption. If ignored, it may require costly replacement.
We provide DPF diagnostics, cleaning and regeneration services to restore performance and maintain emission compliance.
DPF Diagnostics
Auto Service & Tuning Centre’s DPF diagnostic service combines sophisticated technology and traditional know-how, resulting in effective, prompt, and accurate diagnoses. Our Bosch-accredited technicians use a combination of fault codes and DPF service data to identify soot levels and sensor reactivity to determine both the fault source and if the DPF is currently capable of regeneration. This process eliminates the chance of unnecessary part replacement or regeneration.
DPF Regeneration
The DPF regeneration process involves the use of a state-of-the-art Bosch servicing computer system. This system instructs engine management to perform a full regeneration. If the vehicle’s manufacturer indicates that a DPF additive should be used, our technician will advise this, and quote accordingly.
It is highly advisable to see a specialist as soon as possible when faced with a DPF warning light or notification. Failure to complete regenerations at this point could lead to the vehicle limiting RPM or could render the filter beyond repair, meaning a complete replacement would be required.

DPF Service FAQs
Repeated short trips at low speeds prevent the filter from reaching the temperature required to burn off soot. Faulty sensors or engine issues can also prevent successful regeneration.
If ignored, a blocked DPF can reduce engine performance, trigger limp mode, increase fuel consumption, and potentially lead to costly repairs. Early intervention can often prevent replacement.
A DPF is an emissions control device fitted to modern diesel vehicles. It captures and stores soot particles from exhaust gases to reduce harmful emissions.
The DPF warning light usually indicates the filter is becoming blocked and needs to regenerate. This can often happen if the vehicle is frequently driven on short journeys.
