The Bosch K-Jetronic system is a continuous mechanical fuel injection system that was widely used across many European vehicles from the 1970s through the early 1990s.
Unlike modern electronic fuel injection systems, which use sensors and an ECU to control fuel delivery, K-Jetronic relies on mechanical fuel meters and pressure regulation to deliver the correct air-fuel mixture into the engine. The Bosch KE-Jetronic system is an evolution of the K-Jetronic system, combining continuous mechanical fuel delivery with electronic control.
Both systems were widely fitted to classic and modern-classic European vehicles, particularly from manufacturers such as Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Porsche, Audi and Volkswagen.

Over time, components within the K-Jetronic and KE-Jetronic systems like warm-up regulators, fuel distributors, injectors, and pressure regulators can drift out of specification or become contaminated.
